July Devotional
From the Pastor's Desk,
Happy Independence Day! When you stop to think about the journey, we as a nation, have taken quite a trip. From 4 July 1776 when "We the People" made the discission to become a free and sovereign nation to the present day. The road has not been a fun and joyous trip. But we are the envy of every other country, you don't see Americans lining up to leave. Other nations can only imagine what it must be like to enjoy the freedoms we have.
I can only think of how the Hebrew people must have felt when they had gained their freedom from the Egyptians. They had been held in captivity, and slavery for some 430 years, When with God's intervention, and the leadership of Moses, they were released to be a free people. Like America they had a very hard, and costly path ahead of them as they sought out to be a free people. And, like America, they had the Lord's help many, many times along the way. From the parting of the Red Sea, (Exodus 14:21) to the food they had to eat along the way, manna and quail. (Exodus 16) God was with them just as He is with us now. For He Himself said, I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5) "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)
